Detective secures warrant for arrest of murder accused who skips bail

Detective Warrant Officer Herman Pienaar of the Hibberdene SAPS Detective Service has secured a warrant for the arrest of Sandile Mzizi (30) who faces charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and defeating the course of justice.


Mzizi was initially arrested and released on bail of R5 000 following a formal bail application in July last year. He appeared in court at three subsequent postponements however dropped out of sight before the commencement of the trial in July this year. When he failed to appear in court again on the next remand date in August, the court issued a bail estreatment order and authorised a warrant for his arrest. The bail money has been forfeited to the State.


Mzizi is armed and dangerous and the public is cautioned against approaching or attempting to arrest him under any circumstances. Warrant Officer Pienaar appeals to anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact him urgently on 082 498 4819 or 083 588 1438. Confidentiality is guaranteed and informants may remain anonymous if so desired. Information may also be forwarded to Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station on 10 111.


The High Court trial is scheduled to commence on Monday, 28 October in Ramsgate.
