(KZN / Umzinto) Four Suspects arrested for Marianhill HouseRobbery / Murder

Mariannhill police arrested four suspects and recovered stolen goods at Umzinto area yesterday, 4 December 2014. The members were following up on information about the whereabouts of suspects who were allegedly involved in a house robbery and murder case that was reported at Nagina area, Mariannhill. The information led them to Umzinto area where they arrested four suspects and recovered goods including a Toyota Corolla vehicle, a TV set, speakers and a key board that were taken during the house robbery and murder. All arrested suspects age between 35 and 39 years will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 8 December 2014

On Wednesday, 3 December 2014 at approximately 21:30 the victim, Bavelile Victoria Mahlalempini (64) was at home at Nagina area, Marianhill when she was approached by a group of suspects. The victim was fatally stabbed. She sustained 21 stab wounds to her body. Her house was ransacked and the suspects fled the scene in her Toyota Corolla vehicle. A case of murder and house robbery was opened at Mariannhill police station for further investigation. Mariannhill detectives started their investigation that led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of stolen goods. More arrests are imminent. 

The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni welcomed the arrest of the suspects and applauded the Mariannhill police for their swift response that led to the arrest of the suspects within 24 hours after the crime was committed. I also want to thank the involvement of the community in the fight against crime by providing valuable information that will assist the police in their investigation,’ she said.
