CONVICTION : HOUSE ROBBER sentenced to 20 Years Imprisonment (MAYVILLE SAPS Commended)

On 2013-11-29 an African male 34-year-old male was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for House Robbery.

It is alleged that on 2012-08-05 at about 09:30 the complainant was at his place of residence when two males entered the house. The suspects threatened the complainant with firearm and demanded cash. The occupants of the house were held up in the room. The suspects ransacked the house and took cash, laptop, cameras and jewellery.

One of the occupants in the house managed to call a relative for help. The relative came to rescue, he shot one suspect and one suspect was apprehended. One suspect was then taken to hospital and later died in hospital. One suspect was arrested and an unlicensed firearm was recovered.

Accused was then detained at SAPS Mayville and the docket was assigned to Detective Warrant Officer David Nzama to conduct investigation. Detective Warrant Officer David Nzama conducted the investigation to the best of his ability.

His dedication and commitment led to the conviction of the accused. Detective David Nzama was commended by the SAPS Mayville management for the manner in which he conducted the investigation that led to the conviction.

This sentence will serve as a strong warning to the perpetrators of crime. SAPS Mayville will not rest till all the perpetrators of crime have been placed behind bars.
