ARREST & RECOVERY (KZN / Port Shepstone) DRUGS worth over R600K with 5 suspects Arrested.

With the Festive Season looming members of the Durban Flying Squad Narcotics Task Team embarked on drug operations in South Coast over the past weekend. Five alleged drug dealers were arrested after they were found in possession of drugs at Port Shepstone and Margate.

During their operations, police recovered a total 69 bags of methcathinone, 404 grams of methcathinone, 341 grams of cocaine, 13 slopes of cocaine, 28 bags of cocaine powder, 31 straws of heroine, 32 pieces of rock cocaine and a revolver with six live rounds of ammunition. The total street value of the recovered drugs is more than R619 000-00. A total of five suspects aged between 25 and 63 years were arrested for possession of drugs. Two will face additional charges of dealing in drugs and one will face an additional charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They will appear in the Port Shepstone and Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court today, 25 November 2013.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni commended the arrests. “As the Festive Season approaches we will be stepping up our operations to remove these drug dealers from our society. We know that throngs of visitors especially our youth that will be on holiday and will be visiting these areas where drug dealers operate. We encourage parents to be more vigilant over their children during this period,” she said.
