Last night, Tuesday 15 August 2013 at about 22:00, Police received a report of a robbery at a house along White Road in the Grange area in Pietermaritzburg. On arrival, Police found two injured male victims, later identified as Mr Exon Marafu (31) who had sustained a stab wound to his left shoulder. Mr Tinashe Usaigwa (27) sustained an open wound to his forehead.

It is alleged that yesterday evening the victims, together with another 19-year-old female victim, were at their house when they were confronted by three unknown men. One of the men produced a firearm and the other two men produced knives and demanded money. The victims told the suspects that they did not have money and they were assaulted with firearms and one victim was stabbed on his right shoulder. They then tied them with a rope and forced them to lie under the bed. It is further alleged that the suspects then ransacked the house and took three televisions, four cellphones, a microwave and a home theater system valued at approximately eleven-thousand-six-hundred-rand (R11 600.00) and fled from the premises. The victims did not require any medical assistance. No arrests.

Police believe that the suspects gained entry through an open lounge window. Police are making an appeal to anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Detective Captain Vinesh Bakaran of the SAPS Alexandra Road Detective Services on his office number at 033 845 7719 or on his cell at 079 500 0630.
