Manhunt for dangerous suspect : Police appeal for information
The Hawks are appealing to members of the public for information that may lead to the arrest of a most dangerous suspect who escaped from the Palm Ridge High Court yesterday, 2013-10-22, at noon.
The name of the suspect is Vusimuzi Tshepo Genge aged 30. The suspect was to stand trial for violent and serious crimes committed in Randfontein and Krugersdorp. These include murder, house robbery, business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder. He was arrested in August 2010.
The suspect is approximately 1,9m tall and well build. He is considered aggressive and dangerous. His last known address is at Kagiso. It is believed that he is armed and members of the public are warned not to confront him but to contact the police when they see him. Anyone who has information may contact the investigating officer, Warrant officer Peet Venter of the Hawks at cell phone no 071603 8808 or 011 951 1939. Information may also anonymously be forwarded to Crime Stop at 086 001 10111
A case of escaping is being investigated. Police have also launched an internal investigation into the circumstances in which the suspect escaped.
Meanwhile, two men suspected of having helped Vusimuzi Genge to escape from the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court have been arrested.
Genge’s escape - which investigating officer Warrant Officer Peet Venter of the Hawks said was clearly “planned long ago” - apparently took place from the court’s holding cells.
“The two suspects, aged 23 and 28, were arrested on Monday night,” Venter said on Tuesday.
